How to get paid for TikTok views without a big following

You don't need a million followers to earn from TikTok. Here's how paid-per-view brand campaigns work, what they pay, and how to get started.

Most advice about making money on TikTok assumes you already have a huge audience. But the way brands pay creators is changing: more and more campaigns pay for the views a video actually gets, not for how many followers you have. That opens the door for small and mid-size creators.

The three ways creators earn from views

1. TikTok's own creator programs

TikTok runs programs that pay creators for views on their videos. They usually come with requirements, like a minimum number of followers, a minimum video length, and living in a supported country. The amount per view varies and isn't fixed in advance, which makes it hard to plan around.

2. Classic brand deals

A brand pays a flat fee for a post. These can pay well, but brands mostly offer them to creators with large followings, and you have to find, pitch and negotiate each one yourself.

3. Paid-per-view campaigns

The brand sets a rate per 1,000 views (the CPM) and a budget. Any creator who fits the campaign can take part, post a video, and earn for the views it gets. Your follower count matters far less than whether your video gets watched. This is how Cr8 works.

What do paid-per-view campaigns pay?

The rate is set per campaign and shown before you apply. Most fall between $0.50 and $2 per 1,000 views. At $1 per 1,000 views:

  • A video with 20,000 views earns $20.
  • A video with 150,000 views earns $150.
  • A video with 1,000,000 views earns $1,000.

On Cr8, the views an approved video gets in its first 7 days count, which is when most TikTok videos get the bulk of their views anyway.

How to get started

  1. Pick a clear niche. Brands look for creators whose audience matches their product: money, study, fitness, food, tech, beauty. A focused account is easier to match.
  2. Sign up and connect your TikTok account. On Cr8, every account is reviewed, usually within a day.
  3. Apply to campaigns that fit. Read the brief: what to say, what to avoid, and which hashtags to use.
  4. Post in your own style. The best-performing campaign videos don't look like ads. They look like your normal content, with the product in it.
  5. Submit the link and watch the views count. Once the video is approved, views are tracked automatically.

Tips for more views per video

  • Hook the viewer in the first second. Show the result or the problem straight away.
  • Keep it real. Show how you actually use the product.
  • Follow the brief. Videos that miss it can be paid less, or not at all.
  • Label the post as an ad with TikTok's paid partnership setting. It's required.
  • Never buy views. They're detected, and those earnings are lost.

The bottom line

You don't need a big following to earn from TikTok. You need videos people watch, and brands willing to pay for those views.
